If you're eager to enhance your confidence and safety while walking in the mountains during winter, our 2-day Winter Skills Course is the perfect opportunity. We will be in either the breathtaking Lake District or the stunning mountains in Cairngorms, Scotland, this course offers hands-on learning in a small group setting. Designed for those who want to enjoy winter walking with greater assurance, the course covers essential skills such as: Movement techniques: Learn how to navigate snowy and icy terrain efficiently and safely. Crampon use and ice axe techniques: Master walking in crampons and using an ice axe, key tools for winter mountain adventures. Navigation and route planning: Understand how to plan and follow routes in challenging winter conditions. Weather and avalanche awareness: Gain insight into reading winter weather patterns and assessing avalanche risks. Over two days, we'll cover these important skills while journeying through the mountains, weather permitting. This real-world experience provides invaluable practice, enabling you to develop confidence in a variety of winter conditions. Aside from learning essential skills, the course is a fantastic opportunity to meet like-minded people who share your passion for outdoor exploration. With a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, you'll have the chance to enjoy the camaraderie of fellow adventurers while discovering the beauty of the winter mountains. Whether you’re new to winter walking or looking to refine your skills, this course is designed to equip you with the knowledge and confidence to safely enjoy your own winter adventures. Join us for two days of learning, exploring, and having fun in one of the UK’s most spectacular winter landscapes! Due to the unpredictable nature of winter weather in the mountains, it's important to be flexible. Safety is always our top priority. I will tailor each day’s activities to the prevailing weather and the needs of the group. Changes may occur in the planned routes or skills covered, but rest assured, we’ll adapt to ensure you still get the most out of your time with me. This approach allows us to create a valuable learning experience while keeping everyone safe and making the most of the winter conditions.
